Railway Stations in the Algarve

2021 - 2025

I am interested in railways and have admired the character of the Algarve stations with their azulejo tile decoration and elaborate canopies.

Included within my commitment to completing a drawing or painting every day during our 180 day stay in 2021/22 was the plan to portray every railway station in the Algarve - however I did not reach this goal until 2024, partly due to the longer journey times taken to reach stations in the Western Algarve and changing trains in Faro.

From the paintings created over the years you will see the gradual installation of the overhead line equipment and lengthening of platforms to accommodate the new electric trains - and the raising of platform heights to ensure accessible boarding.

Prints of all railway stations - produced to order on Bockingford paper in an off - white A4 sized window mount are also available: price €40 each, plus postage.
